In the midst of celebrating all that summer has to offer, many of you will be spending time prepping for your next big event. Maybe it’s your own wedding, your best friend’s baby shower
, or even a housewarming celebration. Regardless of the occasion, I wanted to share with you, a few ‘s’ecrets that I know will help you select top notch wedding and event vendors regardless of where you’re located, your budget or your vision:
samples of vendors’ work. There are millions of photos online that are easy to access and sometimes there’s no way to determine who contributed to the beauty in the picture. Plus your idea of how you want your drape or bouquets or tablescapes to look could be different than the vendor
’s vision. Seeing images of their work will give you a sense of their style and the quality of it as well.
Search for reviews of vendors you’re thinking about hiring. Event Wire, Atlanta Bridal.com and Wedding Wire are all awesome sources not only because they serve as excellent tools to help you in your planning, but they also give you access to reviews from previous clients and brides. If reviews are not available, you may consider asking the vendor for references.
Say what’s on your mind. If you have questions about a vendor’s proposal, contract, payment options, timeframes or anything else that you’re not clear about, it’s important to voice it. You want to be informed throughout the decision-making process so that when your big day comes around, you can relax and enjoy it, knowing you made solid decisions along the way.
Stay calm and hire an event planner or wedding coordinator to assist with your planning and ‘day of’ needs, especially if you’re inviting lots of guests, if you have a lot of vendors involved, or if it’s a multi-day or multi-location celebration. It’s one of the best investments you can make. These qualified professionals can provide a wealth of guidance to help you navigate through the process of selecting AND managing vendors for your wedding or event. Many planners/coordinators have developed a trusted relationship with various vendors so they are familiar with what they can offer based upon your vision and budget. They will also serve as your contact person on your big day so that you can sit back and enjoy yourself.
Secure vendors for your special day with a signed contract and deposit as soon as you’ve decided that you want to hire them. Vendors’ event calendars can fill up quickly, particularly during the peak months of wedding and event season and around holiday weekends. You don’t want to miss the opportunity to have one of your favored vendors be a part of your special day, so if you like them, let ’em know and find out what you need to do to get established on their calendar!
